Patty has 30 years of experience in substance abuse prevention and treatment, 20 of which have been spent in Western North Carolina. Patti has played a formative role in prevention services throughout our region. She believes in people’s ability to make positive decisions, with education and support. Hiking, bicycling and paddling are some of her hobbies. She is also a life long learner. Additionally, her 7 cats will attest to the fact that she is a cat whisperer.
Jane was born and raised in the Midwest. Jane has enjoyed the past 19 years in WNC. She earned a B.S. from Western Ill. Univ. and a M.S. from Univ. of Wis.-Madison. She also did graduate work at UNC Chapel Hill. Jane has 28 years experience teaching. For the past 4 years Jane has been actively engaged in a variety of prevention programs at Mountain Projects. Jane has 2 grown children and 3 active grandchildren. Her hobbies include reading, sports and paddling.
Mark has over 29 years of military service. He has 10 years of experience having begun his prevention career in the NCNG Counterdrug Task Force. His past civilian sector employment also instilled planning and teamwork. A lifelong resident of NC, his interests often include fishing and the shooting sports. Mark spends a great deal of quality time with his wife and son. The whole family savors the experience of varied food & culture afforded by travel.
Elizabeth, AKA Libby, has 17 years of experience in human services, much of it prevention-related. After graduating high school in Transylvania County, she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work. Life has taken her around the Southeast and Midwest, but WNC is the place she happily calls home. Libby enjoys community-based work and helping others grow their own leadership skills. She is married with two sons and enjoys being outdoors as much as life will allow.
After several years of coalition work, Lorrie joined Mountain Projects as a preventionist, while also working as a journalist. Born in rural Florida, 20 years ago she moved her family to WNC near where her ancestors settled over 200 years ago. She and Gary have two daughters and one grandchild. She has a BA in Radio Television - journalism, but worked in retail, hospital administration, and various media. A longtime homeschool mom, she still enjoys learning, drawing, singing, home DIY, being outside and making a difference.
